.dat to XLS conversion problem while encryption.

Hello Experts,

I am sending an .xls file to third party FTP server after doing encryption using PGP aedaptive module. When I send the file its extension is .XLS (I can see it in receiver channel log) but when the vendor gets the file her is getting .dat file and when he manually open it with XLS then he is able to see the data (after decryption). What is the reason of .dat and how I can avoid it?

If PI is transmitting the file extension as .xls then it's a problem at the target system. I think they use the editor which is by default configured for the file extention .dat. That might be the problem.
