CHARM in SAP SOLMAN 7.1 SP6

Dear Experts

We are using SAP SOLMAN 7.1 SP6.

In the current scenario, the ABAPer starts his R & D work in DEV and puts the papers for approval to the change manager. By the time the  approval comes, he is ready with his solution and the correct transport request.

Now,

in CHARM, unless the CR is NOT approved, he cannot start his work.  Then how he is supposed to do his R & D ?

OR Is it possible that his existing requests can be assigned to the SOLMAN workbench request which is created after The Change Manager's Approval?

Pl note that we are using Urgent Correction.

Please guide us...

Points will be rewarded....

Thanks and Regards,

Ishan

Hi,

we are not recommend to create the direct TR.. moreover if you set the project assignment mandatory and activated charm.. system wont allow to create the TR directly..

There are 2 options I could suggest

1. Create the Change document ( Normal change/Urgent change) with our Request for Change.. this is possible...

2. other wise If you not fine with the standard Charm work flow.. you can customize charm work flow with the help of status and action profiles..

please check my earlier reply on here http://scn.sap.com/thread/3178844

Thanks

Hello Ishan,

There is possibility that the developer can start working on his object by directly creating temporary Change/transport Request in the satellite/remote system. Once his CR of ChaRM is approved by Change manager he can then include/merge his object changes in the newly created transport request by CR. Before including/merging changes you need to ensure that your temporary change request is in released status otherwise you may get another error. This could be an alternate solution for your case.

There could be another problem with developing/modifying the objects directly in the Satellite system if there is Version Management configured thru your SolMan. which will lock the objects for developers to work on it.
