Load Balance SAP PI

Former Member

Good night guys,

I'm on a project that has the following scenario:

In the QAenvironment we have 3 applications servers.

Here's the scenario:

The client wants that SAP ECC 1 sends the message exclusively for the application server 1 (AS1) QA PI.

The client wants that SAP ECC 2 sends the message exclusively for the application server 2 (AS2) QA PI.

Finally, the client wants that SAP ECC 3 sends the message exclusively for the application server 3 (AS3) QA PI.

My understanding, the Central Instance of PI QA performs load balancing for all 3 applications servers

as processing load at the time of execution of the message.

But I do not know if it is possible to determine which application server's of QA PI the message will be processed.

Could you help me with the above requirement?

Regards,

Sérgio Salomão

Hello Sérgio,

I don't think this is possible. I don't think it is possible to route a message from one ECC to a specific Application Server.

I believe you can define specific application server in RFC connection from ECC to PI ,check on that track.

Hi SAP Tech,

I am using the TCP/IP connection that it was created on SM59 from SAP ECC an I did not

find any option to define a specific application.

Hi Sérgio,

We have used SAP Web dispatcher to perform Load balancing but not sure whether you can achieve the exact requirement mentioned above. Also not sure why client is very specific to process messages of a ECC instance specific to its corresponding SAP PI server. Please check the below blog of Web Dispatcher:

http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SI/Web+Infrastructure#WebInfrastructure-WhatistheSAPWebDispatch...

http://scn.sap.com/people/prakash.singh4/blog/2005/08/16/how-to-setup-webdispatcher-to-load-balance-...

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c02f072f-3799-2c10-e0b8-d98d323c0...

But Web dispatcher has some security threats. As per SAP "It is also beneficial to use the SAP Web dispatcher, if you do not need security functions (entry point in the DMZ, SSL, URL filtering), but you simply want to balance the load between several SAP Web AS instances".
