Start up cost issues in FM-BCS

Hi:

I am stuck in an issue. We are using FM account assignment Funds,FC & CI for budgeting posting and reporting. Client during scenario listing has indicated an unheard scenario ,. Its like, suppose there is a department /fund center XYZ, it is assigned against various commitment items . Of these commitment item, there is one Start up Costs. Budget against these cost is not given to departments but it is given to individuals in these departments, Client wants to monitor it budget at person level. e.g Person A in Dept XYZ is given 2 Million budget for start up costs, during the year he spends many expenses using this start up cost , like travel , entertainment, supplies e.t.c Derivation is not an issue, i can create IO for these person, issue is how to post budget at person level, i do not want to open Fund center for every person.  Please guide me to come out of this dilemma..

Hi Atif,

This is a common scenario in research universities. We use a funded program per internal order to identify the faculty member's start-up budget.

Hi Shyamal:

I had the same thoughts but i am reluctant to use it because BBP has been singed off and i can not add this new FM account assignment, this will be a major change affecting all derivation rules. However if in any case i have to make use of Funded program then it means i have will to create one funded program per person receiving Start up cost budget and post the budget accordingly and derive the same using IO ? Please correct me if i am wrong.
