Hi Experts

We want to upgrade our SAP_APPL from 13 to 18.

I have found out the dependent patches from SMP.

Our current SP level is:

SAP_ABA             700          0015

SAP_BASIS          700          0015

PI_BASIS       2006_1_700    0005

ST-PI              2008_1_700    0001

SAP_BW             700           0017

SAP_AP              700           0013

SAP_APPL          600           0013

For upgrading APPL to 18, we have to upgrade BW to 24, BASIS and ABAP to 22, AP to 21 and PI to 12.

Following are the patches I need to apply, also in the following order.

1SAPKB70016

37SAPKH60014
38SAPKH60015
39SAPKH60016
40SAPKH60017

I am getting very worried about applying the above patches.

I am not sure about other dependencies also, other than that of software components.

Can you please help me out, and suggest me the pre requisites on the same.

Also, on how should I make the Queue for the patches

Thanks

Harikrishna

Hi Hari,

First you take backup of your system and generate the stack xml from from solution manager it will calculate all the dependencies and after tht apply all these patch by using SUM.

THks.

Dear Harikrishna,

I would definitely recommend to implemnet a support package stack as opposed to a collection of individual support packages.

Support package stacks

http://service.sap.com/sp-stacks

are a collection of support packages tested and documented together.

In the same location, you will find documentation on any side effects of applying the SP stacks and you can be assured that they have been thoroughly tested and applied by many customers.

To address dependencies, you should down support package stacks using solution manager maintenance optimizer as this will asjk you what target stack you want to go for. Then it will check your current sp levels and pull in any required support packages to ensure all depencies are met. This will remove manual effort and any risk of error when apply the sp package stack.

Paul

Hello Harikrishna,

You have to meet the prerequisite of the packages. So it is not possible to apply the FINBASIS

packages without meeting the prerequisite.

You can define one queue with the FINBASIS & other prerequisite packages. If you have issue in

defining the queue, please let me know and I shall help you to define the queue.

Gaurav
