I want to use the sap portals (NW702) local SLD as the Central SLD, as we will be installing ESS and MSS on it later.
Currently the Abap systems can't talk to the portal via RZ70/SM59.
Do I need to install a SAP Gateway on the portal, so the Abap systems can connect and update the sld via RZ70?
Which would be the best way to about it? Is there another way?
kind regards
Duncan
Hi Vipin
Thanks for replying.
Not sure you understood so for more detail. I have 4 Abap systems .ECC, BW ,CRM, SRM. None of which are duel stack. I do not want to point at my solman either as it is a single point of failure.
For the Gateway Host in the SLD admin you suggested,
The help says "<br> Host name of the SAP gateway where RFC (ABAP) data suppliers sent data to.<br> This can be either a standalone gateway, or the gateway of the ABAP system.<br> <p>Default value:"
I can only put one host in there? I take it that this requires the hostname of an abap system of a gateway, Suggesting I need a gateway on my portal.Is this correct?
cheers Duncan

Dear Duncan,
In that case the best way is to install a standalone gateway on Portal.
But if all the Abap system are in same domain then you can use the gateway of any one Abap system in sld.
You have to use the same gateway host in all the abap system in Rz70 transaction and in SLD.
Than in that case all the abap system will use that gateway (gateway of any abap system) to communicate with SLD.

Dear Duncan,
You can use ABAP system gateway to connect to SLD running on portal.
You need to define ABAP system gateway in RZ70 transaction of abap system and
same value should be entered in SLD at -> SLD UI -> Administration -> Profile ->
Section= datasupplier -> Parameters = GatewayHost/GatewayService.
No need to install a specefic gateway for portal system.
You have to therefore ensure in order RZ70 executes that
1) There is an actual available SAP gateway instance on the
host defined in RZ70.
2) This gateway is also defined in the SLD as follows
SLD UI -> Administration -> Profile ->
Section= datasupplier -> Parameters = GatewayHost/GatewayService
Thanks and Regards,
Vipin
