CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_2.msi will not install on Windows 8 Professional (64 bit)

An existing ClickOne installation using Crystal reports 2011 installs and works perfectly fine under Windows 7, both 32 and 64 bit versions.

After upgrading a 64 bit Windows 7 system to Windows 8 Pro, CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_2.msi wil no longer install. It generates the error: ....\Crystal Reports for .Net Framework 4.0\CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_2.msi has changed since it was initially published.

I tried to manually run the 64bit msi and it generates the same error.

Manually running the 32bit msi does run and install correctly.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Hans

Hi Hans,

CR for VS 2010 (package installer and runtimes) is not tested / compatible / supported with Windows 8.

It may or may not work.

You may try running process monitor and check whats going wrong.

Also, search the forun for such known issues but you will only get posts for OSs prior to WIN 8.

Don,

Thank you for your reply.

I did look deeper into the issue and it turns out that the MSI is not
compatible with Windows 8. That is the result of Microsoft’s own analysis. I
guess I have no choice but to wait for the next SAP update.

Try right clicking on the MSI and selecting "run as administrator"

Likely either a permission issue or you don't have the required 64 bit dependencies installed or available.

SP 5, tentatively due out end of January 2013 but that can change, will support Windows 8 and VS 2012.

As Bhushan suggested also and have a look in the install log to see if any errors happened registering the CR components or any access denied entries.
