Dear All,

My company is currently running on

Component version ECC 6 + Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 + Windows 2003 x64 Unicode

Sap  Kernel Release - 700 - sup. pkg. level=201

We need to upgrade Oracle db to 11.2.0.3.

We have taken a Full SAP Export / System Copy (Including Database) from source system as above.

We have selected "Standard system copy option" through SAPinst for import the dump.

We have setup a Destination system with Windows 2008 R2 SP1 & Oracle 11.2.0.3.

Now sapinst is giving error saying,

"The DB home folder F:\oracle\SID\11203 has not the correct server DB version 102. Select different DB home folder or install correct database software"

Screen shot is attached.

Kindly help us to upgrade our database successfully.

Kind rgds,

Ashwin Mane

Hi,

did you use the installation media metioned in note 1478060?

That would be DVD 51040125.

The "old" 6.0 SR3 media was not aware, the 11g could be a valid version.

Dear Volker,

Yes, your suggestion worked perfectly. SAPinst accepted the oracle 112.

Hi,

I am getting following error message at a later stage where we need select oracle client software.

The error is,

You entered: E:\dump\extra\OraCNT11203\LABEL.ASC
Found the label ORACLE:11.2:CLIENT:Oracle CLIENT 11.2.0.3 V1:CD51041940 but need the label ORACLE:10.0G:CLRDBMS:*:WINDOWS_X86_64:*

could you suggest what is wrong?

Hmm,

looks like the installation still requires the version 10 client.

You can do the installation with the version 10 client and update later to 11,

as long as you do not install with the 7.20 EXT Kernel (in this case you should use 11).

Or you can check out if Notes 1642058 or 1689026 are of help.

DVD 51040125, requires "Oracle 10.2.0.4 Client Software - DVD 51039412"

Check the note, below;

Note 1478060 - Oracle 11g Support on Windows: SAP NW 7.<x>-Based Systems

You can upgrade the Oracle instant client to 11g, after the respective system copy process. Please find the client installation steps and further information, in the note;

Note 998004 - Update the Oracle Instant Client on Windows

Note 1431794 - Oracle 11.2.0: Instant Client

Hi Ashwin,

In addition to the Volker, you can apply the workaround;

Go to sapinst setup folder. Then, find the control.xml file. Search for the statements, below;

NW.trace("NWDBora.validateDbHome(numRows: ", num);
var rc = ( num == 1 ? true : false); <------- Replace the line

NW.trace("NWDBora.validateDbHome(done): ", rc);
return rc;

var rc = ( num == 1 ? true : true);

Then, exit the sapinst and re-execute the process with "Continue with the old option"

Best regards,
