Hallo.
We have a dual-stack portal system (7.0 SPS21) and we want to split into ABAP and Java instances (it is a prerequisite to upgrade the portal to 7.30.
In detail, we have a EP 7.0 (Abap+Java) (SPS21) on a MSCS (Windows cluster) so one ABAP instance on node1 of MSCS and one ABAP instance on node2 of MSCS
Could I split dual-stack into separate ABAP and Java systems on the same hosts on the two MSCS cluster nodes?
Can be on the same host the ABAP instance and the Java instance with different SID on the same db if we use MCOD ?
Thanks.
Mario
Ok , I found the doc:
Dual-Stack Split Guide
Dual-Stack Split for SAP NetWeaver ABAP+Java Systems on
Windows
Using the Dual-Stack Split Tool 2.0
I see that the cluster could be only one as of Windows 2008.
But, it isn't clear if the new cluster has to be a new host or the Dual-Split can be execute as target the same source cluster.
Can anybody help me ?
Thanks.
Mario

My company is also struggling to visualize how this would work for a MSCS system.
Specifically we have a windows 2008 cluster supporting BW 70 using SAP Portal.
Probably our biggest question is once we split the java stack out where does it reside in terms of servers. Does it end up on an additional server, on one of the two serves that hosts the cluster, or somehow become part of the cluster in our existing cluster group.
