Hi,
We can maintain the Category Group values for ATD Receipt and ATD Issues at following 3 places:
Planning area - Assignment to Key figure
Location Master: In SNP tab
Product Master: In SNP2 tab
I want to know which value gets the preference if it’s maintained at more than 1 place or all places?
Thanks
Yogesh
Hi Yogesh,
The category group or category assignment to a key figure in planning area maintenance represents the relationship between the given key figure and business objects/transactional data. In the planning book, it groups the assigned orders (based on category or category assignment) in time-phased manner and show up the quantity.
With respect to SNP's deployment and TLB, category groups ATD issues and receipts represents the demand and supply elements respectively. These groups are required to generate stock transfer proposals to meet demand based on specified business rules. The order of priority in consideration of these two category groups is as follows.
Priority 1: Location product master (t.code /sapapo/mat1) - SNP tab
Priority 2: Location master (t.code /sapapo/loc3) - SNP tab
Priority 3: ATR and ATI category groups (System default and maintained through configuration)
(SPRO->APO->SCP->SNP->Basic Settings->Maintain Category Groups)
Thanks,
Rajesh

Hi Rajesh,
Thanks for your explanation!
I agree that the order of priority in consideration of these two category groups should be first Product master and then Location master. We have same scenario for our deployment between DCs to Stores.
Recently we created another planning area for Push deployment between our Manufacturing plants to DCs. Somehow the ATD receipts and Issues calculations are governed by category group assigned in planning area. I mean for ATD receipt, if different values are maintained in Product master and planning area then system calculates the ATD receipt key figure values based on the category group associated with planning area.
e.g. ATD receipt category group in product master is XYX consists of Stock relevant categories only.
ATD receipt category group in planning area (assigned to ATD receipt KF) is PQR consists of Stock relevant categories plus planned orders as well.
When we check in planning book, ATD receipt calculation considers planned orders also means its referring the group from planning area.
Appreciate your help!
Thanks
Yogesh
Hi Yogesh,
Typically, we use the standard and default category groups assignment in planning area with respect to ATD Receipts and Issues i.e. ATR and ATI respectively. The respective key fig functions are 7001 and 7002. Could you check your planning area settings and confirm?
The system should use the groups you specified in location product master or location master record to populate these key figure rows in the data view. If these settings are not maintained, then system should use the standard groups ATR and ATI (that are also referred in planning area).
If the settings are good and the ATR & ATI key figures don't show the expected results, you can log a ticket for SAP support.
Thanks,
Rajesh
Thanks Rajesh,
I verified the planning areas settings. As I mentioned earlier, in planning area, the values are different than ATR and ATI.
For business requirements to consider planned orders as well in deployment, we created customized groups and assigned those to ATD receipt and issues key figures.
We do have category groups assigned in Location-Product master (ATR and ATI)
During ATD calculations, system refers the category group from planning area.
Also in your 1st reply, you mentioned that default settings are ATR and ATI.
I checked the SPRO configuration for category groups, where it is defined that default is ATR /ATI?
Is there any setting maintained in SPRO?
Thanks for your help!
Regards
Yogesh
