Unable to open trace file sapstartsrv.log. (Error 11 Resource temporarily unavailable)

Hi,

i installed a HDB_Server Revision 38 in a xen virtualized environment. The installation run through pretty well but when it comes to starting the instance it fails with this error:

FAIL: process hdbdaemon HDB Daemon not running

Trying to find a reason for this much saying message i looked in /var/log/messages and stumbled over this error:

Unable to open trace file sapstartsrv.log. (Error 11 Resource temporarily unavailable)

In my opinion this is the reason why the hdb server does not start but Ive no clue how to fix this.

Permissions for all folders are allright!

Help from your site would be really appreciated.

Hello Peter,

refer to SAP note 1762827. Check if SAPSYSTEM is maintained in startup profile and permission of

both /usr/sap/<SID>/<instance>/work/sapstartsrv.log and /tmp/.sapstartsrv<NR>_sapstartsrv.log point to <sid>adm user as owner.
