Unable to start shadow instance EHP6 upgarde

Dear All,

We are upgrading our ERP from EHP5 to EHP6. We are running this upgarde through latest SUM tool. We are stuck in phase MAIN_SHDRUN/ACT_UPG for
more then 24hours.

We have realized that the showdow instance is down and hence the step is waiting for a response from the SAP system.

Please let us know how to start and stop a shadow instance during an upgrade.

I have check folowing sdn posts but unable to hit the right note as either the solution is not very clear or is for upgrade through EHPI and not SUM.

I have also checked the following in SAP Note 398100

R3up/SAPup automatically starts the shadow instance in the START_SHDI_FIRST phase. You can manually start or stop the shadow instance using the following R3up calls:
R3up startshd
R3up stopshd
Locking and unlocking the shadow instance:
R3up lockshd
R3up unlockshd

but couldn't locate R3up/SAPup anywhere in SUM directory.

Somehow the exe's were not present at /SUM/abap/bin. Copied it from elsewhere and ran the command SAPup startshd and SAPup stopshd.

Hi,

You can find the SAPup executable in the /SUM/abap/bin directory. Execute the commands in that directory using the command prompt.
