Hello,

I had few questions about upgrading only SAP_BASIS component from level 9 to 12 on SOLMAN 7.1 SP4 :

1. Is it safe to upgrade SAP_BASIS only or there are s/w component dependency which also should be upgraded ? Also how can i find this ?

2. Can i use SPAM for this or should i use SUM ?

3. Will i have to start SOLMAN_SETUP all over after upgrading SAP_BASIS ?

==> Yes, it is safe to upgrade SAP_BASIS only (If you are able to). Sometimes there are CRT required for upgrading the SAP_BASIS. I have seen several cases, specially in case of Solution Manager. So I checked and found following :

SAP_BASIS 702 SP12 requires the CRT SAPKITL708 (ST 710 SP08). This package is still not released. So it is not possible to apply the package SAPKB70212 as of now.

##SAP recommends to apply the Support Package Stack !!

2. SUM as well as the SPAM can be used.

Hello Gaurav,

I looked in the condition under info for SAPKB70212 on SMP & could not find any need of an CRT .

Where can i find this info ?

Also isn't CRT only for add on & SAP BASIS is not an add on ?

Hi,

When you extract the patch SAR files into EPS/in folder and load them from SPAM, you can review the dependencies by clicking the New PAtches > Display on the SPAM main screen. You can drill down each Patch file and see its dependencies.

Along with Basis do apply ABAP support packs.

If you can afford downtime then use SPAM
