transports at time of applying support packs

Hi Gurus,

How do we manage transports at time of applying support packs in a system landscape? I have applied support packs as post-installation activity at the time of fresh installation but have doubts when the systems are live and running since long, how do we manage development in that scenario . I mean at the time of support pack activity in a landscape if we require to transport how we can do that considering the fact we have applied pack on development system but not on qas and prod, so if we try to transport any object we will get error of version mismatch etc., how we can overcome such situation.

One way could be like we can ignore and do the transport but that mat lead to inconsistency in the system. Another way is like we have to copy the dev and qas and do the patching in the copied system and can do development in the existing dev system which we usually do at the time of upgrades?

please suggest.

Thanks,

Mridul

You can transport the locally developed programs. For SAP standard object you have to find-out whether that object changed in support pack or not. If the object not changed then you can transport. But for the changed object in support pack you shouldn't do the transport as it will lead to inconsistency.
