Check if there is an etnry in ST22 (short dump), in SM21 (system log) from the time of the above

and if so, check the related work process trace file dev_w*

Yes, update error. Check SM13 for details of the error..

You need to double check the status of the data been updated so you can either repeat the update or delete it.... I suggest you involve someone from your funtional and maybe your abaper too.

Having said that, you need to check why the transaction got cancelled in the first place.
