Dual-stack split tool, retain AS JAVA with old SID

We have a dual-stack portal system (7.0 SP22), which we want to split and then only retain the AS JAVA (portal). The ABAP system can be

deleted after the split.

We have read the "Dual-stack split guide" and we need to run the split tool with option "Move Java database" for a central system.

It seems that we can export the AS JAVA part and then use this export with SAPINST for installing the splitted AS JAVA system. However we

want to install this AS JAVA system on the same host and with the same SID as the source system. (the guides states that "Make sure that you

choose a system ID for the Java target system that is different from the dual-stack source system ID.")

My question is if we can use the split tool for the export only and then proceed as described:

0. Export AS JAVA from the source dual stack system

1. Delete the source (dual stack system)*

2. Install the (splitted) AS JAVA on this host and with the same SID as the source system

*The AS JAVA (UME) does not use the ABAP as userstore.

Is this procedure possible and supported with the split tool?

We have a dual-stack portal system (7.0 SPS21) and we want to split into ABAP and Java instances (it is a prerequisite to upgrade the portal to 7.30.

Can be on the same host the ABAP instance and the Java instance with different SID on the same db if we use MCOD ?

Thanks for your help...

Hello, Mario and Tom,

@Tom, The objective of the splittool, is the separation of JAVA stack into new system, you should think the possibility of change the system ID of JAVA.

@Mario, Please check this note: Note 1769205 - Dual-Stack Split 2.0 SP3 for Systems Based on SAP NetWeaver, in this note you will find, all that you need to know.
