Hi there,
from my experience with SAP ME/MI, Windows CE was not officially supported but, it was possible to install a Creme on an WindowsCE-Device and afterwards install the MI-Client CAB-File for mobile devices.
Now I have the problem, that with a Windows CE 5.0 Device the MI CAB-File doasn't extract on the device (MI Client 7.0 SP09) but reports an error and asks me to try again.
Now I have two questins:
1) Does anybody know, why the MI Client doesn't extract ?
2) Which files/folders must be used when manually installing the MI client on the mobile device
Thanks in advance
P.S.: One or the other may ask, why we go for WindowsCE-Devices an not for Windows Mobile devices. The answer is: They are much much much much faster than Windows Mobile Devices. I never before saw response-times within an MI-Application below 2 seconds
hi carsten,
>1) Does anybody know, why the MI Client doesn't extract ?
MS changed some format of the CAB file in WinCE 5. im not sure if the CAB file
with SAP includes in the CD is compatible with WinCE 5. you might need to check
on that.

In the CD image, you can get the uncompressed version of the MI client in ZIP
format. you may use this retaining the structure and copy into your mobile device
but will require you some configuration like creating the lnk file to startup the MI
client.
just my 2 cents.

Hi Carsten
To answer your 2 questions and adding to what Karthik mentioned, here are my suggestions.
1) Does anybody know, why the MI Client doesn't extract ?
A. Probably you need to apply Microsft patch containing WCEload.exe file. Please refer to the following MSFT sites for the solution
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839561
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q240435/
2) Which files/folders must be used when manually installing the MI client on the mobile device?
A. MI delivers an umcompressed version of its installation which can be manually copied on to PDA. Refer to this thread for details From this version copy the MIServer.lnk file to \Windows\Startup folder and the entire contents contatined in cab folder to \MI folder which needs to be created on your device
Hope this helps

Hi Carsten,
SAP does not support Windows CE for a number of reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that the OS components in Windows CE are individually adjusted and delivered by each device vendor and it would be difficult for SAP to check if it works with SAP MI or not.
Also Windows Mobile also works on top of Windows CE where everything is standardized by Microsoft and the vendors do not adjust anything. By do this it becomes easier for applications like MI to do its tests. With CE you do not know which OS components are present and which are not. So the extraction of MI client could be to do with one of these missing components.
Also I did not understand what you meant by manually installing the MI client?
Best Regards,
Karthik
