SAP MDM Import Server to MDM server connection issue

SAP MDIS log says

"Connection to MDS server failed with error: Get instance list returned an empty list"

In MDM console, SAP instance number not showing up for MDS and MDIS. Not sure why SAP instance is not coming up. Where do we see SAP instance for these servers?

Hi Subin,

Can you please let me know the scenario which failed and then you might have checked MDIS logs?

If i can find something related to it, i will share the same. Please let me know.

For some reason, MDS, MDIS, MDSS not showing SAP instance # in MDM Console. MDIS when trying to connect to MDS, log says not able to get SAP instance #. As temporary fix (SAP suggested) UNIX box was rebooted and SAP instance reappeard.

Awaiting a perm fix for the issue from SAP.

Hi Andrey,

As suggested by SAP in the above blog, try rebooting UNIX box which has helped reappearing SAP instance.

Also check with basis team if server can be re-started to over come this connectivity problem.

Either MDIS not able to reach MDS due to network or MDS is down.

Pls ask Basis to confirm availability.

Hi Subin,

It seems your prime issue is with MDS.Please have a look at MDS logs.

Also please check if server is available or the name is valid.
