Hi Gurus,
My client requirement is
Their 80 % material is stored in Forward pick location and 20% in overstock location. On receipt of any material in 80% , they want to receive the material in the fixed bin and the rest to be moved to overstock (high rack) location.
I have configured the stock placement strategy next empty bin with stock placement indicator directs it in such a way that it first goes to st. type fixed bin (005) and then goes to overstock storage type (001). It works fine if the forward pick (FP) bin is empty. It fills the bin to its maximum capacity and the rest goes to overstock.
Scenario 2:
If the FP bin is half full and the receipt quantity is more than the capacity , it ignores the FP bin, it proposes the overstock location. Client want the system, to fill the remaining capacity and the excess goes to overstock location as we do not have enough locations for these materials in high rack area and it unnecessarily occupies the space and inefficient as it does not urtilize the remaining space in FP bin.
Any idea how to configure this? Is this standard?
Appreciate your comments.

Dear Subramanian ,
Next empty bin always searched for new bin .Try enabling add to stock as strategy with capacity check for quantity.
Expected results : system should add to stock in bin till max capacity is reached and then to next storage type , bin.
Try this and let me know incase.
Thanks

Hi Jinoy,
Thanks for your reply.
addition to stock is enabled for fixed bin in storage type 005 and capacity check method is 3 (based on bin). It is adding the capacity if the palatalization value ( WM 2 view LE qty) is less than the bin remaining capacity, but if the pallet Qty is more than the remaining capacity, it searches for next bin in the other storage type.
I want the system to split the pallet qty until it fills the FP bin to its maximum value and the rest to go to the high rack bin.
How to achieve this?
Appreciate your reply.

Add to stock is also working as expected , i created TO for 2 line items with total weight 10KG so total bin capacity usage was changed to 50
Quantity will be added to storage bin until maximum capacity .
Displaying TO's is created for total capacity.
Kindly try same and let me know incase of any querys.
Thanks

Hi Jinoy,
Thanks for the mail. It really helped me.
I configured the same and it is working fine with fixed bin capacity 3. But the problem is LE quantity in WM 2 view.
Once I filled the fixed bin FP location, the remaining has to go to Overstock location . In order to fill the maximum quantity in FP, if I reduce the LE quantity , then at the time of filling the overstock , it proposes new bins for smaller quantity eventhough we could store more in that space.
Example
FP bin capacity :480 EA ( 6 CS; 1 CS = 80)
min bin qty : 80
Replenishment quantity : 80
LE qty : 80 EA
Scanario 1
Fixed bin qty : 80
When I do the GR for 480 EA, it fill up the FP bin by 4 CS (320 EA), and then the rest will go to overstock bins A and B each 1 CS .
I want the system to propose the remaining 160 EA ( 2 CS) in one bin. If I change my LE qty as 160 EA to accommodate this, I cannot fully load the FP bin up to 1 CS level as my proposal is always 2 CS. If the bin qty is 340, I cannot put at-least 1 CS to make it to 420 as now the 2 CS will bring this to 500 that exceeds my limit.
I want to always fill the FP bin to its maximum at the same time I need to put the excess into one overstock bin. Overstock location storage type is enabled with "addition to Stock' but still it proposes new bin for every 2 CS. How can we have the capacity check on the overstock location? for the same material how the capacity check will work for both the locations?
For FP bin , the capacity is mentioned in the WM 2 view of the MMR but overstock location I could not. Even the capacity check method 3 does not work.
I appreciate your comments.

Hi Gurus,
I am facing another issue in the fixed bin storage type for materials with batch management.
My parameters are
Strategy ; Fixed bin
Mixed storage : X
Addition to stock : X
Cap check method : 3 Cap check not active.
Material master is assigned with max quantity and Bin number for FP storage type.
Everything works fine for the normal material. When GR happens, it fills the forward pick (FP) bin to its maximum capacity by LE quantity (WM 2 view) and the rest goes to over stock bin.
But if the material is batch managed, it does not check the capacity , it first fills the bin to its maximum quantity. If I receive the same material with different batch , it again fills the same FP bin event though it is already filled to its maximum
If I remove the mixed storage, I could not fill the FP bin with different batches of same material. Storage unit management is not active in our system. How to check the capacity of the bin , if two batches same material is filled in the same bin?
Appreciate your comments.
