Opinions Needed! Future of Visual Intelligence

Former Member

Hi All,

We are currently working on a report regarding the future of SAP’s BI offering – taking a step back and surveying the landscape to provide the most up-to-date picture of how the technology is developing and how clients and consultants are actually using it.

This will include perspectives from SAP’s official road-maps, and the (perhaps contrasting) real experiences of users and industry professionals.

We would greatly appreciate any insights, input or opinions you could bring to the table!

We are highly interested in where the Visual Intelligence offering fits in, especially around the following topics:

  • How does Visual Intelligence compete with QlikView
  • Which are SAP's unique selling points about Visual Intelligence
  • Problems integrating with 3rd parties and bought-out software

What do you think?

How is the tech landscape shifting?

What kind of issues have you or clients faced in a BI setting?

Looking forward to your responses!

Many thanks!

Hi,

Competitive insights against another vendor is typically the preserve of a Pre-sales and Proof of Concept engagements.  So perhaps your project needs to speak to SAP through official account channels?

QlikTech does undoubtedly have momentum in the data discovery market. However, the usual mantra of : Ease of use, speed of deployment, less dependency on IT etc.. these pillars all hold true for Visual Intelligence too!

Where VI has advantages is SAP's traditional reach into other organisational ERP and BW systems.  Clicktech does not provide an enterprise-wide semantic layer. (Yes, SAP connectivity is possible in Clicktech, but with an expensive Add-On)

Clear differentiators are: VI is already scalable for big data, can leverage HANA appliances, has existing BI platform capabilities, and is inexpensive even for large deployments. (Clicktech's licensing model is challenging for big deployments).

Where ClickTech has an advantage today, is feature-richness. Given that SAP VI was released only this summer, this is understandable.

However, our VI roadmap plans are impressive. I'd recommend you take a look at these entry points here:
