SAPOSS rfc error -LB: Hostname or service of the message server unknown

Hello there,

We have recently build a system form systemcopy of other system.The SAPOSS rfc connection of this newly crreated system is not working.

This is aix 7.1 box wih oracle 11g database, SAP release erp6.0,EHP6

From SAP OS we are successfully able to connect to saprouter on port 3299. In saproutertab file we have done the entry for SAP system also with required permission. But still we are not able to connect to SAP.

Checked with network team and they confirm that they have opned bi-directional traffic from SAP router to sap system.

Below is the error we find in dev_rfc trace file -

Hello Rasesh,

I've observed you are using user id "admin1" , please ensure you are using correct logon data is as

follows:

Language    EN

Client      001

User        OSS_RFC

Password    CPIC

Please go through the following note:-

R/3 destination SAPOSS

Hello Vishal,

admin1 is my login sap id.

I have correct credentials in my SAPOSS rfc connection as you have mentioned..

Hi Rajesh,

I have setup our OSS RFC as per Note 33135 - Guidelines for OSS1 and it worked fine may be this note could help you

Hello Supriya,

Thanks for sharing this note..very useful..I have check my current settings as per note and it looks to be fine..

We have not restarted saprouter since we have added this server entry..so does saprouter needs to be restaretd if we add new entry to saproutetab file..

Hi Rajesh,

I was already having sarservX entry in our saprouttab so did not restart it but yes since you have added new entry you would need to restart saprouter process :

is following entry exists in your services file?

Hello Huseyin,

yes the sap system where i am getting error in SM59 has following entry in /etc/services file

sapdp99 3299/tcp        # SAP System Dispatcher Port

And is that sapdp99 entry also in the services file of your saprouter?
