Error while creating Business layer in Information desgin tool

Dear Experts,

I am trying to create Business layer in Information Design tool in BI 4.0 using OLAP data source and when I select the connection I am getting "An error Occurred while selecting the Connection" error...Kindly suggest what is this error and what I have to do to rectify this.

Hi Divyesh,

In BI 4.0 IDT, you cannot create Business Layer from an OLAP connection using BICS.

Use relation connection to create business layer using OLAP data sources.

But in Relational Connection there is no any option like 'SAP Netweaver BI 7.x' ?

I want to connect BW server.

In case of BI4.0 you have two options: -

Use BICS connectivity for get data from BW system OR

Use UDT like you have been doing in XI3.1

In case of BICS the semantic layer is created on the fly.

Hi,

But when I created semantic layer on BISC i got the error like "An error Occurred while selecting the Connection".

Ok,

Try this step: -

1) Login to CMC

2) Browse to option OLAP Connection and create a connection using SAP BW

You can connect to any BEX query here.

Hi,

Steps: -

1) Open your CMC

http://<systemname>:<port>/BOE/CMC/

2) You will see the option "OLAP Connection"

3) Once you are inside this option, click on create a new connection

4) Provide the details accordingly.

Hi,

I am getting the same error.

As per your comment I have created OLAP Connection and Its working but when I have created Business Layer on OLAP connection at that time I get same error.

You don't have to create any Business Layer, just go to webi and while selecting "Data Source" use BEX as the option and finally select the connection.

You will be able to get that semantic layer.
