Livecache does not start after upgrade to 7.9.7.10

We are running an Upgrade of SCM 5.0 to 702 and Live Cache from 7.6..06.09 to 7.9.7.10.

I reached in the downtime phase, I was able to Upgrade Livecache to 7.9.7.9 first than updated to recommended version of 7.9.7.10.

When trying to start Live Cache it shows started however got the message Live Cache lock server not accessible and No SQL access is possible. I have re-entered passwords for all 3 connections, restarted LC but still same error.

I have sap message open: Live Cache is failing to connect to SQL after upgrade ( 973489 / 2012 )

The trace file shows the following error:

The DB library is present on  'D:\usr\sap\SS1\DVEBMGS22\exe' and also on  'D:\usr\sap\SS1\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64'. The environment variable PATH is set up for these 2 locations.

Can I conclude my SCM 702 Upgrade on SUM that is at the end of Downtime phase than go back to Live Cache, start it and run program  /SAPAPO/OM_LC_UPGRADE_70, session C? Or there is a dependancy that I need to first upgrade LC, bring it up than continue?

Can someone please assist?

Thanks

Hello Gabrielle,

1.

liveCache client software is NOT updated.

Please review the SAP note:

822239    FAQ: SAP MaxDB Interfaces

And follow the SAP note 1566982 and note:

649814    Updating SAP MaxDB / liveCache client software

to update the liveCache client.

Yes you can, but the users should be locked & CIF NOT activated. APO data should be NOT changed and the upgrade table/logs NOT deleted until C section steps done without questions.

Please review SAP Note No. 1684429.

For example, If you are using an older SCM 7.02 Support Package that does not contain some of the notes recommended for C section step, you could not it during the downtime, so proceed in accordance with SAP Note 809504. Please review it.

Thanks Nathalia,

For this particular environment our Live cache and SCM applications are installed on same server and from Upgrade guide it says it is not necessary to update the client software. Is there any exception on version 7.9? Should I consider re-installing live cache client?

I was able to conclude SCM 702 upgrade and am waiting on live cache to be functional to run program  /SAPAPO/OM_LC_UPGRADE_70, session C.

Thanks, Gabrielle

Hello Gabrielle,

As of SAP MaxDB Version 7.8, the isolated installation is performed in the SAP environment. The software of each database installed on the host is completely separate from one another.

Please follow SAP Note No. 649814 and install the liveCache client software for SS1 system on application server.

Thank you so much Natalia!

After installing the LC client software and adjusting the environement variables, Live Cache started.

Great service, thank you!!!

Hi Gabrielle,

I referred to this note -

Note 1055588 - Upgrade to SCM 5.X or SCM 7.0x and Unicode conversion

As per this note, You first need to finish up SCM upgrade, which for you is already in downtime phase and then proceed with LC related activities.

The error you are getting, it seems to me, is due to the incomplete SCM upgrade. Once you complete your SCM upgrade and then go for LC related activites, you should be fine.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Ashutosh,

Our system is already an unicode system and it is good to know there is no dependency to Live Cache and completing SUM. I will continue and close the upgrade than will carry on with the Live Cache activities on session C and D.

Gabrielle
