Dear All,
I am trying File to Idoc scenario. Now one of the steps is to create RFC destination to SAP system in XI. But someone else has already created the RFC destination for the above before. Now do i have to use the existing RFC destination or can i create a new one.
Regards,
Ashish
Hey Ashish
sure u can use the existing RFC destination,if u want to create a new one,u may follow these steps
RFC Destination (SM59)
1) Hit create.
2) Specify the name of the RFC destination
3) Select connection type as 3 and save
4) Under the technical settings tab enter the details SAP SID/URL and system number.
5) Enter the Gateway host as same details above SID/URL.
6) Gateway service is 3300+system number.
7) Under Logon /Security tab, enter the client user & Password details of Destination system.
😎 Test the connection and remote logon.
thanx

Ashsish,
if you note, the port also inturn uses the RC destination.
The Difference is that the RFC destination used in your Port is used to pull the Idoc Metadata.
the RFC destination you mention in the Idoc adapter is used to post the actual Idoc. So like pointed by other, yes, you can reuse the port and use your new RFC destination.
As long as the Idoc release is the same ( in case the RFC destinations point to different SAP systems) then there should be no issue.
