Installing SAPHOSTAGENT agent without downtime,

I have installed SAPHOSTAGENT on a live QA system before.

The “/usr/sap/hostctrl/” is created and installed.

After the install I see “/usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/sapstartsrv pf=/usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/host_profile –D” along with other sapstartsrv for each system on the host.

Does anyone know if it will hurt to install SAPHOSTAGENT on a live system at all?  I didn’t see any ST22 errors or anything when I tried it in the QA live system, so I wanted see what other thought.

Thanks so much

Hi Michael,

Host Agent tools are OS specific executables, as of with 7.1 Host Agents are is not part of the SAP Kernel anymore. That means executables other than SAP Kernel like Host Agents can be exchanged anytime without affecting the running business.

We did while our production servers were up and running, everything went smooth.

Good Luck!
