problem in netweaver 7.0 to 7.3 upgradation

Hi,

I need to upgrade BW netweaver 7.0 to 7.3 into dual stack system ABAP+JAVA),  we used solution manager MOPZ to download the software. all download package upload on the system directory (/usr/sap/SID/trans/EPS/in). and used SUm toll sp05 for upgradation.

We are pointing to the download directory when it asked to mount the kernel DVD. Below the message we see on the screen:

Enter mount points for the DVDs required for the procedure

Enter at least the mount point containing Kernel DVD for OS WINDOWS_X86_64 and Unicode

The requested data carrier is not mounted on any of the mount points you entered.

Please find the attached screen shot, so please provide the solution.

Hello,

we had this problem, too.
SUM or SolManUp have problems with directory path with space and points on unix systems like .../SOLMAN_7.1_SR1_Krnl_AIX__z_OS__SOL

It is solved by using .../SOLMAN_7_1_SR1_Krnl_AIX__z_OS__SOL in path.

I am doing first time upgrade of Netweaver, asking for NW_Java DVD, I have download the 51043284_JAVA_Part1 to 51043284_JAVA_Part6 then define the path of  NW_JAVA after that my system come in the next step.

there is no "UPGRADATION", this word does not exist.

A system upgrade should not be called that way. It is simple upgrade.

Dear Ashwani,

I though you were already doing upgrade using SUM tool. I think this is the best and standard option of upgrading netweaver.

Also regarding this upgrade, we are again stuck in 1 phase.

The phase is "configuration" --> "java". It is asking for new DVD:

DVD type: NW_java

Description: NW Java Content DVD

This same phase asked for 2 DVDs, one of them is kernel for which i gave DVD: 51044252, but for java dvd it is showing error.

In the extraction phase, it asked for JAVA dvd and i gave, upgrade java dvds: 51043284 (upgrade) but it is not accepting those dvd.

Could you please let us know which dvd we should give.

I need to upgrade only windows operating system on BW server, can you have upgradation document of  windows 2003 SP2 to windows 2008 R2.

Right now we are downloading Upgrade export DVDs and will try with the upgrade again.

For kernel it is 51044252, what number is for export ?

Dear Sarthak,

Download the kernel(DVD) package as mentiond above and extract into drive(any drive of system) and given the path of DVD after that next step come.

But you need to download the Export DVD also, after extract the kernel packag into SUM directory then asking for Export DVD.

Netweaver support the SQL DB 2005 or 2008,my DB is SQL2005 .

All downloaded package copy into /usr/sap/SID/trans/eps/in directory, and start the upgrade via SUM tool during extraction phase given above problem,I think DVD not downloaded via MOPZ.

51044252_4 is the media number it does seem like this is the dvd which the tool is asking for.

Download it and point the tool to this to check if this is the one it is looking for.

Did you check that you enter the Right Path to DVD's files ?

Check directory permisions to ( everyone ) or set 777 on case of linux like.

Os is windows 2003 and DB is  sql 2005

our system is 7.0, calculate the package via solution manager MOPZ, DVD not download via MOPZ. can i download the DVD sapretly market place?

Hi Bhowmik,

Yes you can download from Marketplace or by Download Manager, by the way you must type the path of the DVD location.
