Hello All,

I am upgrading BW form 7.0 to 7.3, on OS windows, DB oracle.

I am in "Preprocessing phase" in phase list "main_shdimp/submod_shdimp/shadow_import_upg2" . My question is if is it normal the shadow instance is down during this phase?

Hello Ejersbo,

As you are running Oracle, check SAP Note 558197 upgrade hangs in PARCONV_UPG, XPRAS_UPG, SHADOW_IMPORT_UPG2

This may help in your case.

Hi,

Unusual that R3trans if working fine. Are there errors further down in the dev_w0 file?

Is the same error in all of the dev_w* files?

Anything in dev_disp.log?

Yes strang, the source instance working, but shadow will not start. i did add to file dev_w0 and disp. Mybe help to anderstand this error.

So the dev_disp shows all work processes died. The dev_w shows the error is

I did treid to start and stop shadow instance manually i get :

Hi,

Im really not sure. Are the logs getting regularly updated?

If so, and their is no error entry in the logs or the SLOG, then I would let it run.

Did

SAP Note 558197 upgrade hangs in PARCONV_UPG, XPRAS_UPG, SHADOW_IMPORT_UPG2

make any difference?

In begynning I had stop upgrade and unlock shadow for clean up on  Archive log.

After that I had implement note 558197 . Now I can see source instanc is up but shadow not start.

Now I restart upgrade :

is a last part of SAPup log.

what is the current ime/ how long has it been running?

I would leave it run and monitor the logs for updates.

Let us know if an error appears or if it seems to be hanging.

This error

looks like something is wrong with the R3trans tool.

Are you using the latest patch level?

This can be checked with
