I need to access my HANA views in Explorer through BI launch pad.

Currently I am able to see BO explorer in BI launch but that is not connected to HANA.

what all the steps I need to do to configure BO Explorer in CMC/CMS?

Hi Nagaraj,

Section 4.2.1 of this guide http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir4/en/xi4_exp_admin_en.pdf explains the two options available for connecting explorer to HANA.

If you choose to go with the second option, i.e., via the IDT relational connection, here is a video that explains how such a connection can be set up in IDT

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gk1ko0atqDY&feature=relmfu

Also please follow the steps in SAP Note 1591695.

For option 1 - the native HANA connection - also refer to this thread here: http://scn.sap.com/thread/2153037

Thanks,

Anooj

Hi Nagaraj,

In order to enable the connectivity to SAP HANA, you need to add a .jar file (found in the HANA client install lib directory of the MDAS Adaptive Processing Server.)

Configuration Steps:

1. Using the CMC, stop the Adaptive Processing Server (APS) that hosts the MDAS.

2. Install the SAP HANA client.

3. Once the client is installed you need to copy the ngdcb.jar file from the SAP HANA client installation directory (e.g. C;\Program Files(x86)\sap\hdbclient\). Paste this file in the "\java\pjs\services\MDAS\lib\external" subfolder.

Note: If the default BI platform installation folder is used, the destination folder is "C:\Program Files(x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\pjs\services\MDAS\lib\external" subfolder. (You will need to create the "external" subfolder in the directory.

4. Start the Adaptive Processing Server.

5. Go to the CMC.

6. Go to OLAP connections.

7. Specify a connection name and description

    a. In the drop down, select SAP HANA

    b. Configure the SAP HANA server host name

    c. Configure the SAP HANA port (default port - 30015)

    d. Click the connect button to test.

    e. If you are able to connect succefully, specify how MDAS will connect to SAP HANA by entering user account. You may also choose SSO or alternate credential mapping.

8. Assuming you are now connected, launch the BI Launch Pad.

9. Launch "Analysis for OLAP" from the applications frame or dropdown menu.

10. You should now see your SAP HANA Analytic Views as a possible source for OLAP analysis.

Thanks,

Rohit
