Switch on batch management in production environment

Hi manufacturing experts

I am seeking your advice on switching on batch management in a manufacturing environment where PP, MM, WM are used to manage all processes.  The client decided to implement QM and to activate batch management for raw materials and finished goods for traceability and quality control.  This should be done with keeping existing material masters and plants.  Has anyone done similar thing?  What is the best approach for this to happen?  Appreciate your help in this matter.
