Adobe form prints different from Adobe Reader versus SAP Spool.

We have multiple screens where users can either print PDF forms from adobe reader, or directly to the SAP spool.  Our requirement is that the PDF must be the same physical alignment (in vertical and horizontal size).  It basically needs to look exactly the same whether they print from Adobe Reader in SAP GUI, or directly to the print spool.

Our problem is that when a Adobe Form is printed directly to the spool the size of all the objects on the form is slightly larger which cases parts of it to run off the margins (when printed from Adobe Reader that same form looks exactly like it does in Adobe LiveCycle Designer).

We're using LiveCycle Designer 9.0

Our print spool communicates with the printers using Dazel.

Has anyone else observed a noticable difference when printing directly from Spool versus from Adobe Reader within SAP GUI?

Here's some settings displayed inside our spool request which might help:

Format:  G_RAW

Doc Category:  ADSP

Data Type:  TEXT

Character Set 4102

Record Format:  VY4----

This is the model of printer we're using:

HP Universal Printing PCL 5 (v5.4)

Hi Robinson,

Have you checked the printer settings for this printer in SPAD?

Check the output attributes and tray info of this printer in spad.

2: Whether you are using same printer for both the print outs? or one printer for direct print from acrobat and one for spool?

3: Whther you are printing the spool via a job or manually?

If printing via job then check the user parameters for the user running the job

Similarly check your default parameters in su03 for printer name

4: If everything stated above is same then check you program where you are converting the pdf to spool may be there you are missing something.

One last thing try to change character set to 4103-> I dont know whether this will work but just for a instance try it as a trick.

If this works then ok otherwise you can change it to 4102.

May be these following article can help a bit

Thanks for your input Sandeep, a lot of good information there.

I think we found what was causing issues for us in this case:

Our image (which was used as a form background) went edge-to-edge filling the entire page in LiveCycle.  While Adobe Reader didn't seem to have a problem with this, printing from the spool seemed to be adding some extra page margins which was scooting stuff around on the form.  We solved our problem by cropping the image which was used in LiveCycle somewhat so that there was some blank space on all sides of it (about half an inch).
