will the System copy changes the Enhancement Pack level on target

Hi All ,

We have SAP ECC 6.0 EHP5 on the Production server, And ECC 6.0 EHP4 on the Sandbox,

If we do a system copy from Prod to Sandbox, and upgrade the Kernel on Sandbox to same level as Producton will the Enhancement Package on Sandbox becomes EHP5.

Please let me know.

Hi,

EhP5 affects the software components within the SAP system (like SAP_APPL, SAP-HR, EA-HR etc)

Whereas Kernel will only update the executable required on an operating system level. These are two different things and updating only the kernel will not update the software components as well.

To update from EhP4 to EhP5, please use tools like SUM or EhP Installer. The guides can be found at http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP ERP -> Installation -> SAP ERP EhP5 -> Update from EhP4.

But as we are going to do the system copy from the Production  Server (EnHP5) to the Sandbox(EnHP4), Do you think we still need to do the Ehp5 installation on Sandbox ?

Hi Siva,

As you plan a copy - you would not need to do an update post copy. The copy would take care of getting in EhP5. For system copy you would be using Installation Master and Kernel DVD for ERP EhP5. The kernel hence will come to the default level as provided by the DVD post system copy. Just update the kernel with the latest available in the service marketplace. You should be ready then.:)
