Question: NWDI - new track, track connection

Hello,

we are using Netweaver 2004s with SP8. We have installed NWDI and three Portals (DEV, QA and Prod). We created a track. All fine. Now our developers would like to change the existing software (further developing) without chaning the existing track. We created a new track by coping the existing track. Now we have track 1 which has the runtine system DEV, QA and Prod. At the moment the second track has no runtime system. We connected the track 1 with track 2. Track 1 is the source an Track 2 is the target (using track connection = transport). I asked the delevopers if they see code in the track 2. But track 2 is still empty. What have I forgotten?

Regards,

Alexander

Hello Alexander,

you need to assemble your SC in Track 1 or explicitly forward it to Track 2. See also /people/guenter.schiele/blog/2007/02/12/how-to-migrate-developed-software-components-to-a-new-release-in-nwdi

Hi Alexander,

Why do you want 2 different tracks?

One track will do, u have defined all the systems in the runtime tab. Just continue with ur development and release all ur activities. In CMS Transport Studio just import all the activities in the consolidation tab and move it on to the QA. Do an import here. All the deployed components in Dev will be available in ur QA.

If u r using portal, create an EPA file in the dev system and also move accross to QA so that the iviews, pages, worksets and roles that u created in the Dev need not be done again in QA.
