How to access ABAP Web Dynpro components from iOS Mobile applications?

We are currently using Web Dynpros for a SAP portal accessed via PCs and laptops. Now, we would like to create a Mobile UI (iPad and iPhone) using iOS native technology but we need to access these Web Dynpros components (which are on the server) from iOS native UI from Mobile.

Much of the business logic is written using ABAP Web Dynpro components on server side which are currently accessed using iViews for a SAP Portal.

Is there a way to access these Web Dynpro components from iOS mobile applications (iPhone/iPad) to leverage the existing business logic server side?

Hi Rameshappa,

Its not idle thing using WebDynpro into IPHONEs or Smartphones. SAP has launched SAP SYBASE ( SUP ) technology to overcome this.

We can implement WebDynpro component in IPHONE's but it will not fit to the screen as it when use SYBASE.

If SAP SYBASE is cost to your client. You can try to get an IOS Developer to develop screens in IPHONE using XCODE or JQUERY or Java scripting and then you need to co-ordinate with him thro RFC's.

Create FM as a Remote Call and use WebServices and give those links to XCODE developer, so that he will place whenever there is a Call from Xcode to SAP.

Please let me know if you need more detail information in this regard.

Hi Rameshappa,

yes, there is a new SAP technology - SAP Portal on device.

You can use existing Portal content and apps to create "smart" content for smartphones and tablets. But there is requirement for NW7.3 Portal.

See:
