Transaction SOAMANAGER doesn't work with error "Unexpected error in kernel"

Former Member

Hello experts,

I have following problem which I couldn't solve until now:

After entering transaction code /nsoamanager the IE appears with the error message:

Error while processing your query

Note

  • The following error occurred in system XXX : Unexpected error in kernel (was logged in the trace file)
  • The error occurred on application server xxxxxxx_XXX_00 and in work process 4 .
  • The termination type was: ERROR_MESSAGE_STATE
  • The ABAP call stack was:
    Method: SET_CORE_AUTHENTICATE of program CL_HTTP_SERVER_NET============CP
    Method: AUTHENTICATION of program CL_HTTP_SERVER_NET============CP
    Function: HTTP_DISPATCH_REQUEST of program SAPLHTTP_RUNTIME
    Module: %_HTTP_START of program SAPMHTTP

In the trace file of the corresponding work process I found the following:

A Tue Oct 09 15:42:48 2012

Until now I haven't found something in the Internet or SAP Notes to solve this problem.

Do you have maybe some ideas what I could do or where I can find clue for solution?

Kernel Release: 720 Level 300

Thanks and regards

Mark

Hello Mark,

Have you found a solution to this problem?

I have the same situation in a system with ECC 6.0 Kernel 720 SP 600 on Windows 2008 R2 with Oracle 11.2.0.2

Cheers!

Martin

Hello Martin,

not really. Also SAP Support haven't found a solution for this problem. SAP only suggested to reinstall the whole system (OS and SAP) because in our case it was only a test system. So we installed a new system on a virtual OS but left the old system online (no virtual OS). Months later after virtualization of the old system we tried it again to start the SOA Manager and it worked. We don't know why and we haven't imported any SP's or something else since then.

I know that this is probably not the answer you hoped for and that this is most likely not a solution for you but I hope it can help you in any way.

I would try updating Kernel  300 with the latest disp+work package and give it another go.

Hello Juan,

thanks for your quick response.

Kernel were updated last week (Patchlevel 300) with disp-work Version 7200.300.20.32040 .

Do you have maybe some other suggestions?

Mark

The latest version of disp+work for 720 is 319.

look for the dw_319*******.sar in the DB independent part of the kernel in SMP

Ok. I will download and import the lastest disp+work from SMP and will give you feedback as soon as possible.

Hello Juan,

unfortunately it doesn't work. Further more with the new disp+work the system don't comes up when I put the whole package (dw_319-10007272.sar) or only some parts of this into the system. Also a server restart haven't changed the result. Therefore I recovered to the "old" level (Patchlevel 300 / Disp-work level 7200.300.20.32040).

Do you have maybe some other ideas?

Mark

dw package is not a full kernel, so you need to decompress it on top of your current kernel (300) for it to work. Make sure you take a copy of your kernel before overwriting it with the new package.

Hello Juan,

I did exactly this. I made a copy of my current kernel and inserted the whole package into the kernel folder. Also I tried only parts of the package after the system doesn't comes up. I don't know what goes wrong here.

Well, package dw_319-10007272.sar is for SAP KERNEL 7.20 64-BIT UNICODE Windows on x64 64

Does that match your system details?... if it does it should work. Also be aware that if you are using kernel 720_EXT then the package is other.

Hello Juan,

first thanks for your continous support here.

Yes, it does match with my system:

  • Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2
  • Standard x64 Edition

Unfortunately it doesn't work. I copied the kernel folder, extracted dw_319-10007272.sar in a separate folder and copied this into the kernel folder. After starting sap the disp+work process breaks up after only a few seconds. I am getting following in the DEV Trace:

Wed Oct 10 10:49:48 2012

DpSigInt: caught signal 2

DpHalt: shutdown server >xxxxxxxx_XXX_00                          < (normal)

DpModState: change server state from ACTIVE to SHUTDOWN

DpHalt: stop work processes

Any ideas or suggestions?

Mark

Whats on the dev_w* logs?

Unfortunately nothing. The dev_w* logs only shows my last "normal" shutdown.

There has to be more than that, if the workprocess are not even attempting to start then check dev_disp for errors, also can your do an R3trans -d  and post errors.

As far as I can see the logs says you are still trying to start the system with kernel 300...  Where did you modify the kernel???...

On Windows new kernels should go on <Drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\NT<architecture>\ so sapcpe can distribute the changes

Exactly in this folder:

\usr\sap\XXX\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64

Hello Juan,

I have downloaded now dw_318-10007272.sar and inserted it. This package is working. But I get still the same error when I call transaction SOAMANAGER (Unexpected error in kernel (was logged in the trace file)).

Mark

Ok, Odd at least there was nothing wrong with the kernel update procedure... I think you should open an OSS message, at least you can tell them that you have tried with the latest dw packages

Regards, Juan

Ok

I think that this will be the best too and will open a OSS message.

Nevertheless thank you very much for your help.
