Dear BASIS gurus-
Another newbie question that you'll answer easily - 10 points coming your way.
I've installed SAP ECC5 IDES. I can log onto my SAP instance when I'm actually on my host machine. When I try to log on from my laptop which is connected to our LAN, then it can't find the SAP instance.
I am guessing this is something to do with security on my host server? Do I need to open a port or something? Do I need to make an exception for SAP on the firewall? If so, how do I do that? PS- it's running on a Windows Server 2003 machine if that helps.
Thanks!
Tristan
Hi,
We need to open the ports.
Same problem i faced in my company after installing the solman 4.0 on dummy system.
This work will be done by system administrators.
i hope it will help you.

Hi Kiran,
Unfortunately I am the system administrator...well I bought the server at least and I'm expected to make it work, but never done this before.
Can you tell me which ports need to be opened and how one goes about opening a port on a Windows Server 2003 instance?
Thanks,
Tristan
