Solman 7.1 - Ping called unsuccessfully

Hello experts,

We're currently implementing the Technical Monitoring in our landscape and we're getting the following alert on some AS-ABAP instances:

[RC=600] URL http://<fqdn>:8<sn>0/sap/public/ping called unsuccessfully.

Telnet works just fine from the Solman to the target instances and the called service is active on SICF.

In fact, I even tried calling the link directly from an IE browser and I get a successful response from the call.

Would you guys have any other idea related to this?

Thanks,

Ricardo

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Apparently the problem didn't seem to happen any longer after we updated our Solman to 7.1 SP10

Thanks,

Ricardo

Hi ,

Are you on solman 7.1 SP07  ?

Solman_setup>technical monitoring>2.7  select your applicable support pack and click on import content and Apply the content .

Try giving fqdn and 80<nn> or 81<scsnn>  and test your connection .

Hello Ricardo,

WHen you are calling the link directly from an URL, is it from the public domain or from your intranet vpn domain ?

Thanks,

Samik

Hi Samik,

Everything is being done and tested from inside my intranet vpn domain.

Thanks for asking.

Hi,

Activate the PING service using the tcode SICF under /sap/public in the abap instance.

That should resolve the issue.

This is the correct answer for my issue with same symptoms - set ping active in SICF
