Visual Admin and Config Tool as SPOF

Dear Gurus.

As I understand,  only J2EE Central instance of NW7.0X  contains Config Tool and Visual Admin.

In case oh physical lost of  CI Host ( First Cluster Node) , how can we recreate the CI , without loosing data?

OSS Note 112266 does not contain the information about rebuilding J2EE CI.

Also. In NW 7.1 Visual Admin and SDM are note standalone , but they still part of CI, correct?

Thank you.

Regards

Vladimir Kogan

Hi Vladimir,

Admin Tool and Config Tool are part of CI as you mentioned and useless whenever you lost your CI.

You've to be backing up your CI and Database periodically. It's been tested that, it is possible to re-create your CI from an DB backup whenever your backup can be restored successfully. In older releaes, NW required backup of DB as well as the file system (usr). But in 7.0 and up, DB is keeping almost everything, except the kernel, profile parameters and some Java binaries which can be recreated with SAPINST.

So backup your database and check system copy methods by using DB specific procedure of NW systems. Below is the link for System Copy of NW 7.02 Java System.

Than you a lot!

And what about 7.1 and 7.3?

It is even more easy to recover a system from backup in 7.1 and 7.3. I'll try to write a blog to show an example recovery for 7.0x and 7.3 in near time
