Hello,
We are planning to migrate our hardware, as we need more CPUs than actually have. So we are currently using Windows 2008R2 installed in a virtual machive with Hyper-v 2008. We would like to install Hyper-v 2012 in new physical machines and then migrate our system from the current platform to the new platform, that will be in hyperv2012 but the OS will be the same, W2008R2. Is Hyper-v 2012 supported or it really doesn't matter and what really matter is the operating system that is in the virtual machine?
I hope I have been enough clear in my explanations, as it is really difficult to talk about physical, virtual ...
Thanks and best regards,
Ana.
hi Ana,
SAP actually started a First Customer Shipment Program where the second phase (which will probably start on Monday) will allow Windows Server 2008 R2 guests on Win2012 Hyper-V. You need to apply for the program, for details see the SAP Note 1753578 and look into http://scn.sap.com/community/it-management/virtualization/windows
Regards,
Claudia

Hello,
Windows Server 2012 is the next version of the Microsoft server operating system. It is the successor to Windows Server 2008 R2. The most important new features such as the new Windows UI (Metro), the extended Windows Power Shell, and a new version of Hyper-V are currently being tested by the SAP development team with the main focus on preserving the downward compatibility of the latest SAP releases. We will publish detailed support information for SAP software in the SAP Product Availability Matrix at http://service.sap.com/pam 05 Sep 2012
regards,
John Feely
