Inventory management for Variants

Hi

We have products that have different variants. FOr eg: Paracetmol tablets sold in 50mg, 100 mg etc. I want to know the pros and Cons of maintaining variant for Product paracetmol Vs maintaing individual material master.

Is there a specific setting to enable invenotory management of variants of a configurable material? Can we do a goods receipt for a varaint?

Please help.

By defination , Configurable products are make to order and it doesnt requitre any specific settings for them, its also possible to create Material Variants out of them and stored them for it also there is no need for any settings done in customization.
