SRM 7 Shopping Cart Number Range

Former Member

Hello All,

After upgrading from SRM 4 to 7 I have noticed that SRM 7 reserves the shopping cart number in the shopping cart template straight away that create shopping cart has been clicked. If the user then closes the screen or does not complete the transaction by clicking Order or Save the number is then discarded from the number range. With the volume of users we have as requisitioners this will lead to large gaps in the number range. Does anyone understand why these numbers are still used?

Thanks

Andrew

Hello,

This is the expected behaviour not only for shopping carts, but for all documents.

The number of the documents give out by the start of the creation and if the user doesn't save (doesn't order) this document, the number disappear from the system. That means: there are no documents avaiable with this number.

Regards,

Ricardo

Hi,

Yes, this is the standard behavior of Number ranges in SAP system. Let it be any Follow on document number, the system behaves the same.

If you have many gaps in the numbering, you should be finding out what's causing that issue and eliminating those problems. The fact that there are gaps in the numbers is irrelevant.

Number gaps happen everywhere. If an update fails for any reason, the number is already gone and SAP doesn't roll it back because it could cause other problems to do so.

Find the solution to avoid the gaps, don't worry about fixing the gaps.
