I have SAP ERP 6.0 without EHP. Linux, Oracle 10.2.0.4.

I install new kernel 720, but sap don't start after upgrade.

I switch on tracing in /etc/init.d/sapinit and try start:

telecon63:/etc/init.d # ./sapinit start

Platform is: Linux

execute ulimit -n 65536

start hostcontrol using profile /usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/host_profile

[ERROR] Already Running (pid=3352)

Found (0): LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/sap/BP2/DVEBMGS16/exe:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH; export LD_LIBRARY_PATH; /usr/sap/BP2/DVEBMGS16/exe/sapstartsrv pf=/usr/sap/BP2/SYS/profile/START_DVEBMGS16_telecon63 -D -u bp2adm

Start SAP:

telecon63:bp2adm 78> startsap

Checking BP2 Database

Database is running

-------------------------------------------

Starting Startup Agent sapstartsrv

OK

Instance Service on host telecon63 started

starting SAP Instance DVEBMGS16

Startup-Log is written to /home/bp2adm/startsap_DVEBMGS16.log

-------------------------------------------

/usr/sap/BP2/DVEBMGS16/exe/sapcontrol -prot NI_HTTP -nr 16 -function Start

and nothing do not do.

Hi NemZov,

Please do following analysis before you start sap.

1. Start the listener.

2. Run R3trans -d with sidadm user.

3.If rc not equal to zero

4.Then please send the trans.log.It is present in the location from where you ran R3trans -d.

5.Also paste dev_disp and dev_w0

Nemzov ,

I assumes R3trans -d ends with rc=0.

Could you see any dispatcher process.

ps -ef|grep -i dw

Also review whether  you have copied correct  kernel files.I am checking log files meanwhile.

Kill sapstartsrv and manually copy /sapmnt/SID/exe/[n]<uc>/<platform>/* (the global kernel) to /usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS16/exe (the local kernel). Then do a startsap.

The problem is that startsap calls the local sapstartsrv/sapcpe and they fail.

Hi,

Just follow this note carefully.

Note 1636252 - Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.007.017.107.11

Your issue will be solved.

Is problem occurs, then give Dev_w0.log, trans.log

Thanks,

Venkat

I again passed on this note. Result same.

All dev_w* from old kernel "700"

List new files In directory /usr/sap/BP2/DVEBMGS16/work:

sapcpe.log

sapcpe_base.log

sapstartsrv.log

available.log

empty file dev_tp

Hi Nemzov,

Please check the startsap log, dev_W0 log file and along with that please check if SAPOSCOL is Up and Running and R3trans -d is returning 0 as return code.

But sometimes hungs and nothing do not do.

Where possible see his log-file?

Hi,

I reckon you'd updated kernel from 700 to 720 and causing SAP doesnt start.

I will advise your to look at the sapstart log and dev_w* log.
