Hi all, the United States user takes out a global report using a z-transaction. In this report, the records from Japan show text in unreadable characters- gibberish. The user actually wants this text to be shown in english. When I logged in to sap system with JA (japanese) language and checked, the Japanese have maintained the text in japanese language in their customer master data. So this data could not be read by EN (english) login. What could be done so that this japanese text be shown in English (or at least in japanese as a last option) in the global report accessed by the U.S. user.
Please help.
Thanks,
Nazeer

Hi Nazeer,
I assume you are referring to an ABAP report / transaction.
In this case it depends on wether the according text is language dependent or hard coded.
If it is hard coded, then the Japanese characters will be displayed correctly with EN logon in case of a Unicode system only.
If it is language dependent, you could maintain the English translation (then the English text should be displayed when logged on with EN).
In any case SAP highly recomends to make use of Unicode - especially in your case.

Hi Nils,
It's not an ABAP report, but a customized business report displaying the service orders numbers and other data. But your reply does help in understanding the concept.
Thanks!
