Hello,
We have a storage type in which we want to create 10,000 storage bins (currently this storage type is open storage). Could you please help on below queries for this requirement?
1. What are the ways by which we can create these 10k storage bins?
2. Will this affect any RF functionality?
3. What pick & place strategy we need use against these storage type after creating storage bins as currently it's having "Open storage" strategy assigned.
4. Any other things we need to consider?
Thanks.
Hi,
"We have a storage type in which we want to create 10,000 storage bins (currently this storage type is open storage)"
I don't think you want to do that. Because with a open storage type strategy you never gonna use these bins.
"1. What are the ways by which we can create these 10k storage bins?"
You create in your test system a storage bin structure, transport this (after testing) in your productive system and create the storage bins.
"2. Will this affect any RF functionality?"
Of course it does not. Of course it does. The 10k bins do not matter. But you need to think about verification and your queue management.
"3. What pick & place strategy we need use against these storage type after creating storage bins as currently it's having "Open storage" strategy assigned."
Whatever strategy you want to use. Except open storage probably.

for 1), create bin structure and test it. We use a 3 segment approach: Aisle+rack, shelf, bin. This can easily generate more than 10K bin numbers.
Useful Hint: This structure is not transported. Use LS10 to create it in test/dev environments
Use LS05 to create it in Prod.
If the template structure does not work for you, a very simple LSMW for transaction LS01 will do the trick.
