Batch job RSPTBFIL failed in SAPup upgrade from 7.01 to 7.3

Hi everyone

I hope someone can help me!

I am upgrading our NetWeaver 7.01 system to NetWeaver 7.3.  I am using SAPup.

In the Preprocessing - Shadow System Installation, I am getting this error:

Checks after phase MAIN_SHDRUN/RUN_RSPTBFIL_DEST were negative!

Last error code set: BATCH JOB RSPTBFIL FAILED: Error(s) found in the log(s), accumulated in "RSPTBDST.ELG".

RSPTBDST.ELG file shows:

Hi Gary,

Please check SAP Note 1678780. Under Section 6 it is clearly mentioned about this issue and stated to use SUM.

Hi Manish,

Using the SUM tool is not an option.  We tried for three weeks to get the SUM tool to work when we did the development system.  We could not get it to run properly.  Frankly, the SUM tool is a horrible tool.  We've used it on three other systems and in each case, it takes weeks of struggling through error messages.

We were actually advised by SAP Support to use SAPup because we were only going to NetWeaver 7.3.  The SUM tool was only required for EHP1 and above.  Since the SAPup tool worked fine for development and assurance, it should have worked in production.  We finally were told by a SAP developer the following:

Delete BI_CONT 735 and 736 packages from the directory EPS/in.

Do not make a mount point for a BI_CONT 735 or 736 CD available

to the upgrade.

After the 'Configuration' roadmap step, check that the package

SAPK-737GHINBICONT is contained in the log TRQUEUE2HEAP.LOG.

I am putting the information in here in case others fall victim to SAP's buggy installation tools!

   checks MAIN_SHDRUN/RUN_RSPTBFIL_DEST were negative
   The system reports errors as follows:
   Could not read nametab""/POSDW/FD_PROF"
   It is not possible to publish a complete error list in this SAP
   Note. The affected objects start with /POSDW/.

   Solution:
   You are probably using the EHPI. As described in the "2.
   Important general information" section, it is essential that you
   use SOFTWARE UPDATE MANAGER 1.0 Support Package 04 with patch
   level 2 or higher. Reset the installation of the Enhancement
   Package and start again using SUM.
