R49 Communication error in sm21 log

hi experts,

I m getting following error in sm21 log.

Please guide me what is that and why this accure?

"SAPSPI-149: Id: R49 Communication error, CPIC return code 020, SAP return code 456 status=AL_STAT_ACTIVE severity=9  [Policy: SAP R3 opcmsg]"

Hi Vivek,

Hard to tell from this info. Are there othee messages listed in SM21 for this error message, any other successive messages e.g. Conversation ID, CPI-C function etc.

Is your SAP application server Windows ?

What have you done to try to troobleshoot this?... do you know that the CPIC return codes are listed in SM21?.... Now, a SM21 isolated message can mean anyrthing, you need to check your developer traces, also previous/following SM21messages can help... etc..

Hi Vivek,

chack the related work process trace file. It should show if this is coming from an rfc or give some further details about the error.
