SAP HANA Bachelor Thesis - Structure

Hello community!

I am writing my Bachelor Thesis from September 2012 until Januar 2013 about SAP HANA.

At the moment I am considering about the structure / content of my thesis...

First of all, I would like to give you an overview about my planned structure:

    1.                Introduction

    1.1.             Motivation

    1.2.             Target and Proceeding

    1.3.             Structure of the work

    2.                SAP HANA - High Performance Analytic Appliance

    2.1.            Definition

    2.2.            Scenarios with SAP HANA

    2.2.1         Platform

    2.2.2         Content

    2.2.3.        Accelerator

2.2.4.        Products with SAP HANA Database

   2.2.5.        New Generation of Applications

    2.2.6.        Hybrid scenarios

    2.3.            Potential and Chances

     3.              Technology und Architecture

     3.1.           Hardware Technologies

     3.1.2.        Multi-Core-Architecture

     3.1.3.        64-Bit-Adress-Space

     3.1.4.        ........

     3.2.          SoftwareTechnologies

     3.2.1.      Compression

     3.3.2.      Partitioning

     3.3.3.       ......

     3.3.          Architecture

     3.3.1.      Overview

     3.3.2.      Interfaces

Now I have 3 questions:

1. Do you think there are enough sources (Books, Articles etc.) available to fill the above mentioned bullets with text/content?

2. Could you suggest me some sources (books, links, articles and so on) ?

3. Do you think this structure is good to write about the most importent topics about SAP HANA ?

Thank you very much for replying.

Best Regards,

Union

Hi,

Please see the following document by Vivek:

http://scn.sap.com/community/training-and-education/certification/blog/2013/08/21/hana

Though the heading of the document is more about certification, you might still find lot of good links within the document.

Also, see the below link as-well:

http://scn.sap.com/community/hana-in-memory/blog/2013/08/17/hana-reference-for-developers--links-and...

Pls, see if you add HADOOP(Big/Data) --> BODS --> HANA topic as-well. Would be a interesting one.

All the  best for your Bachelor Thesis...

Hi,

  • In my opinion,There is plenty of material to have a  very interesting thesis on hana.

One place to check, and you will find plenty others, is the resource area in http://www.experiencesaphana.com/community/resources.

One big task in your thesis will be doing some triage.

  • One must read for your thesis is the redbooks for hana from IBM http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redpapers/pdfs/redp4814.pdf this will help the theoretical background of your thesis.
  • I don't think it's easy to say that the structure is good without knowing the purpose of the thesis.Technology reseach,Database application, business application, etc...
  • I suggest to do some preliminary reseach and reading to draft a structure that fits YOUR purpose.
  • Finally, good luck with your Bachelor thesis.

Hope this helps
