Hi,
I am upgrading the NetWeaver 7.01 portal system to NetWeaver 7.31 using SUM version 5. I am getting an error at the phase "BIND_SUPPORT_PACKAGES" with 'No UTL Description for active source product {sap.com/ERP=}!'
I have generated the XML file from Solution Manager 7.1 SP05. We have some BP ERP components installed in the portal system.
The usage types are
1. NetWeaver Application Server Java
2. Enterprise Portal
3. EP Core
When I am generating the XML file I am getting the warning messages for the ERP components that the Technical Usage Type is missing. But there is no usage type in the system information which I can assign to these ERP components. Because of this we getting the warning messages in the MOPZ. SAP has suggested to us to eliminate these warnings by assigning the Technical usage type.
I have un-deployed the BP ERP components(SAP does not recommend it) and generated the XML file from MOPZ and continued the upgrade but at the step BIND_SUPPORT_PACKAGES", we are getting the below error.
Error message:

I had the same thing once, below you can find the original SAP support advice. This did the trick for me, i cannot remember if it was sufficient if you just retry, or if i had to go back in the upgrade tool to continue afterwards.

Hi Michael, |
Good luck, and be careful!
Cheers Michael
Edit: the id posted doesn't have to match in your case, but you need to delete all ERP components from those tables.

Hi Michael,
Thanks for your reply.
I have undeployed all the BP ERP Components but I did not drop any table rows from the database.
I checked the tables that you have mentioned, but I did not find any ERP components in those tables. All that I can see is the usage types installed in the source system.
Those 3 table have the rows with usage types.
1.Application server java
2.enterprise portal
3.ep core
4.ep content
BC_SL_COMPONENTS table has the rows with the ERP components.

I did not need to do anything on BC_SL_COMPONENTS. Are you sure the components are properly undeployed. Are they gone in SDM and the systeminfo page?
In my case, we also had a lot of BP_ERP* packages on a NW 7.01 portal installed. We undeployed them and i had this error in den BIND_SUPPORT_PACKAGES phase:
I had to delete one row from BC_SL_PRDVERS.
BC_SL_FEATURE looked like this:

Hi Michael,
Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes, the components are undeployed using the SDM and they are not there in the system information page.
We do not have the product EHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0/NW 7.01 in our source system.
I have checked the table BC_SL_SWFEATURE and I do not see anything related to ERP components.
I see only three rows in that table.

Ok,so our cases are slightly different. Thus i cannot give you a sure way to success. Removing the rows from BC_SL_COMPONENTS might solve the problem (i would try it, but only on a test system and backup the rows before deleting). Obviously changing the data on the database directly could screw up the system as well.
When I am generating the XML file I am getting the warning messages for the ERP components that the Technical Usage Type is missing.
Also be sure, that there is no ERP information in the xml and in the solman config for that system.
Cheers Michael
Hi,
Have you complete the step in note 1543092??
4. (Upgrade Only) Follow the steps to solve above mentioned errors when upgrade
to BP_BIADMIN 3.0.
The BP_BIADMIN component shall be undeployed from the
source system, then the Solution Manager System Landscape (SMSY) shall be
updated/reconfigured accordingly and the component with its relevant target
version shall be deployed on the target system after the release upgrade finish.
In order to execute this solution, the following steps shall be
executed:
a). The BP_BIADMIN component shall be undeployed via SDM
following the steps below:
- go to the
'usr\sap\<SID>\JC<SYS_NUM>\SDM\program' directory and start the
RemoteGUI script located there
- choose the 'Undeploynment' tab and select
the following component to be undeployed:
com.sap.pct.bi.tct.BI_Administration.sda
b). After the component is
successfully undeployed the instance "EP Content" shall be unmarked in SMSY and
the product registry shall be updated in this respect.
c). The stack.xml
file shall be regenerated by the Maintenance Optimizer in order the "EP Content"
not to be present in the stack.
Once you undeployed those component, you need to update the system info in SLD or LMDB -> SMSY. Follow above to regenerated the XML with the updated info, which is without *BP_BI* content.
Cheers,
Nicholas Chang
Hi,
Please check is BP_BIADMIN is installed on your source system. If yes, please follow the upgrade only option in Note 1543092 - Upgrade of BP_BIADMIN 1.0 to BP_BIADMIN 3.0(BP BW ADMINISTRA
to undeploy it.
Hope it helps,
Cheers,
Nicholas Chang

Hi Nicholas,
Thanks for your reply. We have the BP_BIADMIN component in the source system. I have undeployed this component and tried the upgrade but that did not help us.
Basically we have following BP ERP components installed in the source system.
sap.com | BP_BIADMIN | 60.1 SP5 (1000.60.1.5.0.20060118134900) | SAP AG | SAP AG | 20110114063817 |

sap.com | BP_ERP5COM | 1.20 SP0 (1000.1.20.0.0.20070703150100) | SAP AG | MAIN_ERP52VAL_C | 20090810134920 |
sap.com | BP_ERP5ESS | 1.0 SP13 (1000.1.0.13.0.20080516101928) | SAP AG | MAIN_ERP05VAL_C | 20090810134413 |
sap.com | BP_ERP5HRA | 1.11 SP3 (1000.1.11.3.0.20070629082150) | SAP AG | MAIN_ERP5VVAL_C | 20090810135149 |
sap.com | BP_ERP5MSS | 1.0 SP13 (1000.1.0.13.0.20080516101931) | SAP AG | MAIN_ERP05VAL_C | 20090810134640 |
sap.com | BPERP_IAT | 1.41 SP7 (1000.1.41.7.0.20100916042530) | SAP AG | MAIN_ERP54VAL_C | 20120915001903 |
sap.com | BPERPTAD | 1.40 SP8 (1000.1.40.8.0.20100916042540) | SAP AG | MAIN_ERP54VAL_C | 20120915001858 |
But we have the following 3 Usage Types in the Java only Portal system.
1. Application Server Java
2. Enterprise Portal
3.EP Core
I can not assign the usage type to those ERP components in the SMSY, so because of that we are getting the warning messages in the MOPZ.
I have already tried undeploying those ERP components, but during the upgrade we are getting the error at the phase "BIND SUPPORT PACKAGES".
Please suggest.
Thanks,
Shai
