I am struggling to connect to SQL Express as a data source, but I am thinking it might be a network port (1433) that is not opened for me. I figured I would come here to see if it is possible to connect to SQL Express and if so, are my connection properties correct.
JDBC: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
Server URL: jdbc:sqlserver://<SERVER>:1433;instanceName=SQLEXPRESS;databaseName=NORTHWIND
USER: <USER>
PWD: <PWD>
I run the Telnet on this particular server and port and I do get a " Connecting To <SERVER>...Could not open connection to the host, on port 1433: Connect failed " This leads me to believe it is more of a port issue, but if anyone could offer an opinion or some advice, I would be greatly appreciative.
Which version of SQL Server? I know on some older versions you have to enable remote connections on the server instance.
Google or Bing search for "SQL Server Express enable remote connections"
