Managing MTO planning in SNP

Hello Experts,

I understand pure Make To Order scenario is not supported in SNP. I was wondering if anyone has tried any work around for managing Make to Order planning  in APO SNP. Will appreciate if you people share your experiences/opinions.

I came across one old thread ( Nov 2009) on the same topic..But experts have different opinions there and moreover, it may be worth knowing if latest versions can help us in some way to manage MTO in SNP......http://scn.sap.com/thread/1518268.`

Hi Nilesh,

SNP heuristics and optimizer do not support MTO. However, you can use CTM for MTO scenarios (APO requirement strategies 30, 35, and 40). CTM supports both PIR and sales orders

as requirements for planning and hence, both Make To Stock (MTS) and MTO strategies are supported.

SNP only supports strategy 10 (MAKE-TO-STOCK PRODUCTION) and 20 (PLANNING WITH FINAL ASSEMBLY). Strategies 30 (PLANNING WITHOUT FINAL ASSEMBLY) and 40 (PLANNING PRODUCT) are not supported. SNP supports as Planned Independent Requirements (PIR) segment only the Net Segment that is used in strategy 10 and 20 in standard SAP APO. This is valid for the SNP Heuristic and for the SNP Optimizer.

Thanks Rajesh.

I am looking forward to experience or opinions in managing MTO by some workaround.For example by planning against SO by putting requirement strategy " Planning with Final Assmebly"....do not release forecast ....manage tagging of stock to sales order etc .in ECC...also enhancements to suppress popping up transactional data in customer segment in APO
