Hi Team,

We have a requirement to transfer data(xml, spreadsheet, text, etc) between 2 corporates.
Data volume is around 500MB/day and ~1000 files.
We are evaluating the various communication options,
 Communicate directly with the partner over internet using SOAP HTTP(s)
 Setting up of a dedicated VAN
 Using B2B SFTP data/file transfer service providers

I would like to know the best option to choose in terms of time for implementation, cost, maintenance, etc.

Option 2 would be the costliest in terms of implementation and management in my opinion.

• Do you already have PI installed and available for use in your environment?
• If yes, understand if the client is able to communicate using HTTP or SFTP.
• What data format can your client support, xml or flat file?
• For using SFTP with PI, do you have PI >= 7.1 SP 08? If no, then purchasing SFTP adapter will be expensive and creating SFTP scripts will be more time consuming as compared to using HTTP.

Hi Joby,

What kind of securtiy restrictions / standards defined between two corporates? If they are using FTP to place files then tweak security standards and use file adapter.

you need to develop an adapter module to handle excel files, using File content conversion you can convert text to XML.

if FTP is secured then explore option 3.
